Onboarding for my Software Developer Internship

Onboarding Experience

I've seen a lot of people online not really know what to expect from a Software Developer Internship, shoot I didn't either. Especially one that was remote. But here I am to give you some answers.

Today was my first day and I'd say it went pretty well, a lot of it was an introduction to how they do things in regards to adding features, bug fixes, maintenance. Another portion was more conceptual of thinking how the users think to understand the why of the application, thus being able to deliver better development. I was also given access to some of the repositories that i will be working in on Github, while also setting up the dev builds so I could begin my work.

There was a lot of information to take in on the first day but I definitely feel like I have already begun learning and have a ton of opportunity ahead of me. By the end of the onboarding process I was given some minor bug fixes to work on. This was and is a big deal to me because now my coding and research will actually be going into a product that means something.

I think my next post will be about some things I learned during this onboarding and have had the chance to research a little.
